María José Sotomayor Mesa

Her role focuses mainly on mining and aquaculture law, and on corporate, commercial, and contractual matters. María José has advised domestic and international companies in contractual and corporate matters, in the assessment and due diligence phases of mining and aquaculture projects, in the processing of mining property ownership, aquaculture concessions, and easements, among others. She is an adept professional when it comes to managing complex issues that pose a difficult resolution prospect, always proposing and suggesting clear and innovative solutions for our clients.

She has also participated in the drafting of reports and presentations on domestic and foreign mining regulation and legislation; as a speaker at seminars and workshops on the matter and has held the post of Assistant Professor of Mining Law at different universities.

Formerly, María José worked at the Legal Vice Presidency of LATAM Airlines Group.
