We have actively counseled domestic and foreign clients in the development of hydropower, geo-thermal power, wind- power, and solar power projects. In addition, we have been advisors for matters of oil and gas, through the negotiation and execution of special agreements for oil operation with the Chilean State, Special Petroleum Operation Contracts (Contractos Especiales de Operación Petrolera, CEOP).

Our dispute resolution practice boasts ample history in court and arbitration for matters of power plant construction and operation, in litigation related to insurance contracts, and the application of legal easements, among others.

In the regulatory scope, our team developed a proposal for the Ministry of Energy for the Regulation of the Law on Closure of Mining Sites for hydrocarbon-related activities, and we currently advise Colombia in drafting a special regulation for geothermal energy.

Energy matters at Carcelén Desmadryl, Guzmán, & Tapia are led by partners Jerónimo Carcelén and Matías Desmadryl.
